Recording & Item Clips
Recording is separate from the public broadcast and the Vendivo show timeline. Confirm each state independently so a saved timeline is never mistaken for a finalized video file.
Choose and verify the folder
Open Show Settings → Output & Recording.
- Select Choose… beside the recording folder.
- Choose a location with enough free space for the entire show.
- Select Apply & Verify.
- Resolve any recording-folder or storage warning before the show.
Changing the text of a folder path is not enough; Vendivo must be able to create and use it. Apply & Verify does not make a test recording, so record and play back a short rehearsal before a long event.
Whatnot recording is manual
Whatnot Show Tools starts the public broadcast only. It does not start Vendivo's separate local recording.
Use this order:
- Complete preflight and every camera-view test.
- Select Start Show in Vendivo.
- Select RECORD in Vendivo's live controls.
- Confirm the control changes to RECORDING.
- Start the public broadcast in Whatnot Show Tools.
At the end:
- Stop the public broadcast and confirm it is off air.
- Stop the Vendivo recording.
- Wait for recording to finalize and verify the file.
- Select End Show to finish the local timeline.
Standard RTMP recording
For a non-Whatnot destination, Record with broadcast is available under Output & Recording. When enabled, Vendivo starts recording with the broadcast output and stops it as part of the output workflow.
Still confirm the recording state and final file. If you use the live RECORD control manually, treat public output and recording as separate states.
Item clips
Vendivo can use the show timeline to prepare item clips from a completed recording.
- Keep the show queue and item progression accurate while live.
- Stop recording before exporting clips.
- Wait until Vendivo reports that clips are ready.
- Use the clip export action, then verify the exported files before removing the source recording.
Highlights and item transitions improve the usefulness of the saved timeline; they do not replace the need for a healthy recording.
If recording will not start
- Confirm the production engine is connected.
- Confirm Apply & Verify completes without a recording-folder error and the expected path is shown.
- Check free disk space.
- Confirm no settings or output transition is still running.
- Stop other OBS recording or replay operations that may conflict.
If recording may still be active
Do not force-quit OBS or shut down the Mac. Return to the live controls and let the recording reach a confirmed stopped state. Only then inspect or move the file.
Storage practice
- Record a short rehearsal and play it back before a long event.
- Leave significantly more free space than the short test consumed.
- Use a local writable folder during the show; move archives afterward.
- Confirm both picture and sound in the finished file.
- Keep the source recording until exported item clips are verified.
