This is preview documentation for a companion app that is not a public customer download. It is not required to use Vendivo for Mac today.

Wi-Fi Mode Requirements

Vendivo for Mac is public now. Its iPhone and Android companion apps are still in store-release preparation and are not public customer downloads. This page documents the planned phone-to-Mac Wi-Fi workflow so its requirements are clear before launch.

Wi-Fi will send the phone feed directly across the local network. It does not use a Vendivo cloud relay and does not require internet access for the video path.

Required setup

  • The phone and Mac are on the same local network.
  • The network allows devices to communicate with one another.
  • Local Network access is enabled for Vendivo on iPhone.
  • Local Network access is enabled for OBS and Vendivo on Mac.
  • The Mac firewall allows incoming connections for OBS and Vendivo.

A Mac on Ethernet and a phone on Wi-Fi can still share the same local network.

  • Use modern 5 GHz or 6 GHz Wi-Fi when available.
  • Keep the phone in good range of the access point.
  • Put the Mac on wired Ethernet.
  • Leave Connection Mode on Automatic so USB remains available.
  • Start with Balanced 1080p/30.
  • Use a trusted private network.

Internet upload speed does not determine local phone-to-Mac quality.

Permissions

iPhone

After the iPhone app launches, open Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network and enable Vendivo.

If it is not listed, open Vendivo, select Wi-Fi or Automatic, and run the connection check so iOS can present the permission request.

Android

Android does not show the same iOS Local Network toggle. After the Android app launches, keep Wi-Fi enabled and allow the Camera and notification permissions requested by Vendivo.

Mac

Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network and enable OBS and Vendivo. Restart OBS after changing its permission.

Networks that commonly block discovery

  • Guest Wi-Fi
  • Hotel, school, venue, or corporate networks with client isolation
  • Separate VLANs or subnets without local routing
  • Some mesh networks with device isolation
  • VPNs that replace local routes
  • Hotspot configurations that do not allow peer access

Matching Wi-Fi names are helpful but do not prove that devices can communicate. Router policy matters.

Quick test

  1. Disconnect USB.
  2. Put the phone and Mac on the same trusted network.
  3. Enable the required permissions.
  4. Open OBS and Vendivo.
  5. Run Setup & connection check.
  6. Tap Start Streaming on the phone.
  7. Choose Add to OBS if this is a new phone.
  8. Confirm real video.

If discovery still fails

  1. Disable VPNs temporarily.
  2. Turn phone Wi-Fi off and on.
  3. Restart OBS after checking its Local Network permission.
  4. Allow OBS and Vendivo through the macOS firewall.
  5. Restart the router if other local devices also cannot communicate.
  6. Test on a simple home network to identify venue-network isolation.

You do not need to enter an IP address, change OBS WebSocket, or create a Browser Source.

Quality and stability

If Wi-Fi connects but video is uneven:

  • Move the phone closer to the access point.
  • Put the Mac on Ethernet.
  • Choose Balanced or Low Heat.
  • Reduce competing local traffic.
  • Stop phone and Mac recording while testing.
  • Compare USB to separate a network problem from phone performance.

Security boundary

The current release does not claim end-to-end encryption for Wi-Fi video. Use a network you trust. Use USB when you do not want the camera stream sent over Wi-Fi.

The planned Remote Director controls remain USB-only until authenticated Wi-Fi control is available.
